Msigwa visit’s TSN headquarters


Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and Chief Government Spokesperson, Mr Gerson Msigwa paid a visit to the Tanzania Standard Newspaper (TSN) Limited headquarters today on 3rd January 2024, located on Nelson Mandela Road in Dar es Salaam.

Mr Msigwa visit’s TSN for the first time since his reappointment to this position following a cabinet reshuffle by President Samia suluhu Hassan which has seen the Information sector transferred to the Ministry of Culture, Art and Sports.

During his visit he called on the Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) to take the lead in informing and educating the public with accurate information toward the 2025 general election, so as to make them aware to participate actively in the electoral process and make informed decisions.

He also meets with TSN Management, journalists and inspected the construction project of a new state-of-the-art Modern Printing Factory, which is currently 53 per cent complete and costs approximately 30bn/-.

Regarding technological advancements, the PS advised the media to explore innovative solutions for transforming operations, particularly in content dissemination. He emphasised the need to transition from traditional methods to modern approaches by embracing creativity and innovation.

He urged journalists to continue putting into considerations, professionalism, objectivity and competence in articulating their duties with boldness in safeguarding the national interest.

Mr Msigwa also urged TSN through its outlets to intensify efforts in informing the public about various initiatives undertaken by the government.

Earlier while giving the welcoming remarks, the TSN Managing Director Asha Dachi, detailed the Chief Government spokesperson on the company’s operation strategies and plans to enhance production but also the construction project progress.
