The Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) Company has conducted a mental health training session for its employees on February 5, 2026, at the company’s headquarters located in Temeke Municipal Council, Dar es Salaam. The training aimed to promote employees’ mental well-being and enhance efficiency in the performance of their duties.
The session was facilitated by a Mental Health Specialist from Muhimbili National Hospital, Dr. Peter Leonard Sakejo. During his presentation, Dr. Sakejo highlighted various factors, including upbringing, personal development, workplace environment, and everyday life challenges, can significantly influence an individual’s mental health.
He further elaborated on practical approaches to managing emotions and thoughts when facing different life challenges. As part of the training, employees also participated in brief practical exercises designed to help them manage stress and maintain emotional stability.
In addition, Dr. Sakejo provided guidance to both leaders and employees on how to support individuals who may exhibit signs of mental health challenges. He emphasized that mental health conditions can affect anyone; however, they are manageable and treatable if identified early and addressed appropriately.
Delivering a word of thanks at the conclusion of the training, the Managing Director of Tanzania Standard Newspapers Company, Ms. Asha Dachi, expressed her appreciation to Dr. Sakejo for delivering the informative session to TSN employees. She noted that the training plays an important role in helping employees understand and safeguard their mental well-being, thereby enabling them to perform their responsibilities more effectively.
Ms. Dachi further stated that TSN intends to continue organizing similar training sessions on a regular basis and is also considering engaging a mental health specialist who will provide ongoing support and professional guidance to employees.
The training session also provided an opportunity for employees to ask various questions related to mental health, which were addressed with clarity and professionalism by Dr. Sakejo.
