TSN Director Commends Women’s Performance

The Managing Director of the Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN), Asha Dachi, has commended the growing participation of women in leadership and national development, noting that their contribution continues to expand across various sectors of the economy.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam on Friday ahead of the commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 8, Dachi said TSN began its internal activities to mark the day on March 1 by organizing various training sessions at the institution’s headquarters in Tazara.

She added that as part of the celebrations, women employees at the company cut a cake as a symbolic gesture to recognize women’s contributions and the progress made towards achieving a 50,50-gender equality. She noted that women currently account for approximately 30 percent of representation country wise.

“We take pride in the achievements we have made so far. Women continue to demonstrate professionalism and reliability in the performance of their duties,” she said.

Dachi also commended the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, stating that it has been a significant catalyst in encouraging women to step forward variety of leadership positions as well as actively participate in various sectors.

According to the Managing Director, women are increasingly visible in sectors such as mining, tourism, health, education and other economic activities, where they continue to work efficiently and contribute to national development.

She further noted that this year’s theme, “Equal Rights for Women and Girls: An Inclusive Foundation for Achieving Vision 2050,” underscores the importance of creating equal opportunities for women and girls to enable them to fully participate in shaping the nation’s future.

In preparation for the celebrations, TSN organized several activities, including mental health training for its employees both men and women aimed at strengthening well-being and promoting a healthy work environment.

Additionally, the institution donated various essential items to people in need at the Muhimbili National Hospital as part of its community outreach initiatives during the International Women’s Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, Maria Myula, the Head Nurse of the pediatric oncology ward at Muhimbili National Hospital, expressed gratitude for the support, noting that it will assist children receiving treatment at the facility. She also called on other stakeholders to come forward and support those in need.
