The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Sports has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the construction of a printing press factory project currently underway at the Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN), which has reached 71 percent completion. The completion of the project is expected to bring significant benefits to the nation by increasing efficiency and productivity in the printing sector in the country.
Speaking today during the Committee’s visit to the TSN headquarters, the Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Husna Sekiboko, said that once completed, the factory will enable TSN to expand its production capacity in the printing business and serve more clients both within and outside government institutions.
She explained that the Committee is satisfied with the progress achieved in the implementation of the project and commended the TSN management together with the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports for their good supervision of the project, which is important for the development of the media and printing sector in the country.
On his part, the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hon. Paul Makonda, said the factory is expected to have a high production capacity and will make TSN more competitive in the printing market.
He noted that the factory will have a total of 18 modern printing machines which will increase production capacity and improve the quality of services, making it one of the important printing centers in the country.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN), Ms. Asha Dachi, said that the construction of the factory has so far reached 71 percent and preparations are ongoing to ensure it is completed on time so that it can start providing services.
She emphasized that the completion of the project will increase TSN’s competitiveness in the printing market and contribute to the growth of the national economy through the provision of modern and high-quality printing services.
The visit was also attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, who is also the Chief Government Spokesperson, Mr. Gerson Msigwa, together with the management of Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN).
